Switch to Columbia Bank!

Make the switch to Columbia in four easy steps!  That is why we created this easy-to-use online switch kit with everything you need to close your existing account(s) and move to your new Columbia Bank account.  And, you won't need to visit your old bank or credit union.

Step 1 - Open your Columbia Bank account

Start by adding your Columbia Bank information.  If you do not have an account with Columbia, you will need to open one before switching. You can open up a checking, savings or a money market online.  We recommend our free, high rate checking account, Yield Plus Checking, with NO ATM fees nationwide.  When you have opened your new Columbia Bank account, return here with your new account number.

Step 2 - Your previous account information

To close your old account(s), you will need information from your previous financial institution(s) ... name, address, phone number and your account number(s).

Step 3 Optional - Automated Debits (ACH) and/or Direct Deposits

  • Automatic Debits: Gather all information on companies that make electronic withdrawals from your account. This includes automatic debit (ACH) or charges to your debit and/or credit cards. Examples of automatic debits include rent/mortgage, utilities, phone and cable bills.
  • Direct Deposit: Includes payroll, taxes, retirement and pension plan accounts, or expense reimbursements. Social Security customers will need to contact the Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213, or go to www.ssa.gov. If you have Direct Deposits through the military, please visit the myPay site.
Electronic Payments (Bill Pay)
If you used a bill payment service at your previous financial institution, be sure to cancel each payee and add them to your Columbia Bank Bill Pay service within Online Banking. Online Banking and Bill Pay services are FREE at Columbia Bank. Sign up for Online Banking.

Step 4 - View and Print Your Documents

The information you provide will appear on your customized checklist, along with letters that will be used to notify others of your account change. Print these documents and use the checklist to track your correspondence.
