As part of Columbia Bank's ongoing efforts to fight debit card fraud, we've
recently introduced a new, enhanced security service that uses your Columbia Bank
CheckCard transaction history to help identify suspicious transactions. There
is no charge for this service!
Whenever a fraudulent ATM or purchase
transaction is suspected, the cardholder will receive a courtesy call from a representative
from our card-processing center. If the transaction is verified as being an "authorized"
transaction, no further action will be taken. Transactions determined to be fraudulent
(not authorized by the cardholder) will result in an immediate "block" in order
to prevent any unauthorized use.
Now you can enjoy the convenience
of a Columbia CheckCard along with the security of knowing that this new service
is in place. For more information on our CheckCard, visit your local branch or
call us at 1-800-522-4167.

We
encourage our customers to manage their finances responsibly. However, we recognize
that cash flow emergencies and account errors do occur from time to time causing
checking accounts to become overdrawn.
- Special overdraft privilege linked
to certain Columbia checking accounts (non-business) where overdrafts may be honored
up to the Bounce ProtectionSM limit established for your account type.
- Saves
the embarrassment, additional merchant fees, or other problems that might result
if a check is returned.
- Whether your overdrafts will be paid is discretionary
and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts
if your account is not in good standing, or you are not making regular deposits,
or you have too many overdrafts.
- An account is in good standing if you:
(1) demonstrate responsible account management – such as making regular deposits
to bring the account to a positive balance at least once every 30 days (including
the payment of all bank fees and charges); (2) avoid excessive overdrafts suggesting
the use of Bounce Protection as a continuing line of credit; and (3) there are
no legal orders, levies or liens against the account.
- New account holders
may be able to use the privilege 60 days after the account is opened if the account
is in good standing.
- No cost unless privilege is accessed. Our standard
NSF paid item fee of $32 (fee subject to change) per item will be imposed for
covering overdrafts created by check, in-person withdrawal (at a teller), ATM
withdrawal, or other electronic means. You are also expected to repay the overdrawn
amount as soon as possible, but no later than 30 days after the overdraft. If
we must return an item, our standard NSF return item fee of $32 (fee subject to
change) per item will be imposed.
