Description:  The Commercial Valuation Analyst is responsible for preparing, reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating residential and commercial real estate appraisals and valuations in support of collateral and valuation risk management. This role serves as a resource to the Chief Appraisal Officer by helping to ensure that all operations of the Appraisal Department are meeting bank and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements:
  • College degree preferred (Preferably in Business Administration);
  • 4-6+ years of experience as a Commercial Appraiser; other valuation experience may be used to supplement this requirement;
  • Must be a New Jersey State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser (SCGREA);
  • Industry recognized designation from MAI, IFA, and ASA is preferred, but not required. Candidacy toward such a designation or significant involvement in such an organization would be considered;
  • Strong analytical aptitude, attention to detail, and highly organized;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • The ability to work independently, be self-directed, and exhibit a professional demeanor;
  • Mid-level PC skills including the MS Office Suite;
  • Experience with RIMS or similar appraisal workflow tool is preferred;
  • Ability to travel 25-50% to sites as needed, typically in New Jersey. 
Job Description:
  • Evaluates appraisal reports and evaluations to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and bank policy with a focus on the basic to moderately complex assignments.
  • Works with appraisal and evaluation vendors to resolve valuation issues; assesses the validity of existing appraisals and evaluations; provides feedback on the overall quality of the appraisal reports by vendors and recommends action when needed.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Appraisal Department and lending, credit, internal loan review and special assets areas for appraisal issues, particularly with those assignments they handle.
  • Acts as a resource to lending, credit, internal loan review and special assets co-workers by responding to requests for market data or insight on valuation issues.
  • Visit properties in question to provide direct evaluation of a property or assist with analysis.
  • Performs appraisals, evaluations, and inspections of all types of real property.
  • Maintains current knowledge of real estate values and trends and analyzes market trends.
  • Maintains a minimum license in New Jersey of State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser.
  • Uses various bank-provided technology tools, including RIMS and the Office Suite, to deliver efficient service, facilitate consistent data collection, communicate analysis, and provide regular and timely feedback to bank staff.
  • Provide feedback to the Chief Appraisal Officer on bank appraisal and, department operational procedure, documentation, and implementation tools.
  • Provides assistance to department staff.
  • Reviews appraisal reviews of junior reviewers to ensure standards are met. Makes adjustments in methods and procedures as appropriate to ensure compliance.
  • Performs other job related duties as may be assigned.
