Columbia Bank is pleased to welcome Joseph LaPella as Chief Executive Officer of RSI Insurance Agency, a subsidiary of the Bank, effective immediately. In his role, Mr. LaPella is responsible for managing the oversight of the newly acquired agency.
Mr. LaPella has more than three decades of diversified experience at premiere insurance agencies, most recently serving as a Senior Business Development Manager at Plymouth Rock Assurance Company, where he collaborated with multiple business units to develop and launch a go-to-market strategy; successfully appointing over 300 agents and growing a significant book of business in the first 18 months. Previously he served as Territory Sales Manager at The Hanover Insurance Group, where he worked with the New Jersey field team to expand the company’s distribution channel and consult with partner agencies to increase total premium volume throughout the state. Prior to that, he was a Sales Producer and Owner of an Allstate New Jersey Insurance Company agency, and an independent Owner of Goins & Hewitt Insurance Agency in Pennsylvania, where he successfully managed and expanded his personal and commercial portfolio of product offerings, as well as his clientele, through organic growth, acquisition and strategic partnerships.
An active member of the community, Mr. LaPella supports charitable causes, including Save a Suit, a nonprofit organization, which assists members of the military to transition to the civilian work force. Mr. LaPella who resides in Long Valley, New Jersey with his family, holds a Master of Education from Temple University and Bachelor of Science Degree from Ursinus College.
