Columbia Bank Cited For “Best Practices”
FAIR LAWN, NJ – September 24, 2018 - Thomas J. Kemly, President and CEO of Columbia Bank, is pleased to announce that Columbia Bank was named a "Best Practices" award winner by the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) at its recent Fifth Annual Best Practices Award Conference saluting innovation in the workplace. More than 150 business executives attended the business reception held at the Highlawn Pavilion in the Park in West Orange.
Columbia was cited for its volunteer work, specifically their exclusive “Team Columbia” concept which encourages their employees, regardless of position, to volunteer their time to assist community members and charitable organizations in making a difference in people’s lives. For example, bank volunteers serve as “Reading Heroes” for the Boys and Girls Club of Passaic as part of a program designed to encourage the enjoyment of reading to inner city children. Following story time, the children select their favorite books to take home with them, compliments of the bank.
"When it comes to developing “workplace heroes,” we think outside the box," Mr. Kemly said. "As a leading bank, Team Columbia remains committed to helping local organizations that make a difference in the many communities that we so proudly serve. We are also honored to be recognized as a company that cares!" Last year alone, Columbia donated $1 million to NJ charities and completed more than 125 community-based endeavors.
