Columbia Banked Named "Champion of Good Works"

Tom Kemly Accepting Commerce and Industry Award

FAIR LAWN, NJ - March 28, 2017 - Thomas J. Kemly, President and CEO of Columbia Bank, is pleased to announce that Columbia Bank was named a "Champion of Good Works" by the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) at its recent Chairman’s Reception saluting corporate philanthropy. More than 250 business executives attended the gala reception held at the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack.

Columbia was cited for its volunteer work in conjunction with The Phoenix Center, a Nutley-based school that provides educational and therapeutic services to children with disabilities. A volunteer employee crew recently painted a number of hallways and rooms during the school’s holiday recess with all labor and materials was donated by the bank. The Center was also the recipient of several Columbia Bank Foundation grants, in excess of $95,000, that funded a sensory garden, a barrier-free playground and renovated two life skills classrooms. The Center also received the proceeds from the Columbia’s Annual Charity Golf Outing, which raised over $75,000 for them.

"We are extremely pleased to assist The Phoenix Center with their charitable mission to help those with disabilities," Mr. Kemly said. "As a true community bank, Team Columbia remains committed to helping local organizations that make a difference in people’s lives. We are also honored to be recognized as a company that cares!" Last year alone, Columbia Bank donated $1 million to NJ charities and completed more than 100 community-based endeavors.
