Columbia Bank recently teamed up with the Fair Lawn Police Department to help promote their community policing efforts by supporting the borough’s “Cop Card” program.

This program furnishes police officers with baseball-style trading cards, sponsored by a local business.  The Cop Card program is designed to familiarize children with the borough’s police officers in order to seek them out when they experience something that they feel isn’t right.

The front of each card features the officer’s photograph, while the back of the card contains a short biography and a personal message from that officer.  Children of all ages are encouraged to collect the entire set of 72 cards.

“We are extremely pleased to assist the Fair Lawn Police Department with efforts to show that police officers are always approachable and always willing to help,” noted Thomas J. Kemly, Columbia’s President and CEO.  “Fair Lawn’s Cop Card program represents a great opportunity to meet local police and to learn about all they do to keep our communities safe.  Columbia remains committed to helping local projects that make a difference in people’s lives.”

Mr. Kemly is shown holding the full set of Cop Cards flanked (left to right) by Officer Eric Eleshewich, Lieutenant James Krizek and Officer Gerard Graziano.

Columbia Bank is a regular supporter of local projects that promote community pride.  The bank was recently honored by The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey as “A Champion of Good Works.”
