Columbia Bank Supports the Newark, New Jersey Community by Opening a Second Branch in the City

December 20, 2021

Columbia Bank is pleased to announce its commitment to foster the Newark, New Jersey community, by opening a second branch in the city. Located at 260 Chestnut Street in the Ironbound section, the venue, which offers full-service personal and business banking including drive-up amenities, is Columbia Bank’s 62nd location.

Official “Grand Opening” festivities will begin on December 20, 2021 with special promotions such as low fee/affordable mortgages, savings on closing costs, and cash bonuses for opening a personal or business checking account, designed to help businesses grow and the neighborhood flourish.

The new branch has been designed around an enhanced customer experience featuring the latest in banking technology, including a video message screen, digital rate display, and an “Intelligent ATM,” plus a modern interior design, private conference areas, and a coin counter.

As part of Columbia Bank’s community support efforts, the company is hosting its “Banking for a Cause” program. For each new checking or savings account opened at the location, $10 will be donated to one of the following Newark-based charities/non-profits of the customer’s choice:

  • ICC - Ironbound Community Center
  • Ironbound Soccer Club
  • Love and Charity in Action
  • The Salvation Army Ironbound Boys & Girls Club

Furthermore, on February 28, 2022, the donations will be tallied, and Columbia Bank will provide additional funds to the designated local organizations:

  • $2,500 given to the charity that receives the most donations
  • $1,000 given to the charity with the 2nd most donations
  • $500 given to the charity with the 3rd most donations
  • $250 given to the charity with the 4th most donations
