Columbia Bank is proud to announce it has invested $100,000 in Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Funds to support Paterson Habitat for Humanity (PHFH). The funds will be utilized to fulfill comprehensive restoration plans for housing and economic development, supportive services, and other neighborhood revitalization activities.
Paterson Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to work towards community-driven goals, including infill housing development and preservation/construction of public green spaces. The Housing initiative, labeled Home Safe Home, will add to much-needed affordable and quality single-family housing stock in the area, while the green space component, Green Space for Everyone, will transform a city-owned parcel of land into a public park for all to enjoy."
The renewal project will address the overwhelming need to build new energy-efficient economic homes and facilitate affordable and varying income housing opportunities by rehabilitating existing residences. Home Safe Home activities will result in the planning, design, and completion of pre-construction activities for an affordable multi-unit housing project that will include supportive services and in the preservation of other residential properties in the Northside as quality affordable homes. PHFH intends to acquire/rehabilitate/ repair existing residential properties to upgrade housing conditions. The upgrades will include new roofs, siding, air conditioning, and other rehabilitation activities.
The PHFH Green Space for Everyone program will allow for the creation of more open space and recreational areas, redesigning/beautifying existing green spaces, and mitigating flooding. Said, Thomas J. Kemly, President and CEO of Columbia Bank, “Columbia Bank is committed to serving the needs of our local communities, including neighborhood investment and economic development. We are so pleased to support Paterson Habitat for Humanity’s revitalization project, helping to provide safe, affordable homes and spaces for the city’s residents to enjoy. It’s truly gratifying.”
