Columbia Bank Awards Over $100,000 to Freehold Nonprofits

In anticipation of Columbia Bank’s acquisition of Freehold Bank, set to take place on October 5, 2024, Columbia Bank and the Columbia Bank Foundation recently teamed up to show its commitment to the local Freehold community. Approximately 18 organizations were identified, and both Columbia Bank and the Columbia Bank Foundation awarded grants of over $100,000. Funds will be used to support food insecurity, housing initiatives, medical aid, and community development within the Freehold area.

"Both organizations share a commitment to excellent customer service, superior products, and to giving back. Through this acquisition, we’ll introduce new branches and ATM locations and added products and services, paired with the same friendly faces from both teams."

Grant recipients include:

  • Monmouth County Historical Association

Dedicated to preserving and interpreting Monmouth County’s history through educational programs, exhibitions, and maintaining significant historic sites to enrich future generations.

  • CentraState Healthcare Foundation

Acts as a bridge between the community and CentraState Healthcare System, fostering local support for vital healthcare initiatives.

  • Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Strives to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, while improving the quality of life for patients and their families.

  • Foodstock

A grassroots organization aimed at alleviating hunger by collecting food and funds to support local food pantries.

  • Freehold Area Open Door

Operates a food pantry to combat food insecurity within the Freehold region.

  • 180 Turning Lives Around

Offers free, confidential support and resources to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, helping them rebuild their lives.

  • Downtown Freehold

Engages in initiatives aimed at enhancing the vibrancy and economic development of downtown Freehold.

  • Freehold First Aid & Emergency Squad

Provides emergency medical services to the community through a volunteer-driven organization.

  • Freehold Fire Department

Committed to protecting lives and property through fire safety services, staffed by dedicated volunteers. Each fire company received individual funding; Goodwill Hook and Ladder Company, Monmouth Hose Company, Engine and Hose Company #1, Richardson Engine Company #2

  • East Freehold Fire Company

Committed to protecting lives and property through fire safety services, staffed by dedicated volunteers.

  • Freehold Independent Fire Company #1

Provides first rate fire protection services across Freehold Township

  • Emergency Housing & Advocacy Program Inc.

Assists homeless individuals in securing housing and essential services while advocating for their rights and self-determination.

  • Knights of Columbus Freehold, NJ Council #1672

Provides community service and support programs rooted in Catholic values, benefiting the people of Freehold and surrounding areas.

  • Freehold Elks NJ Lodge #1454

A fraternal organization committed to promoting charity, justice, patriotism, and fellowship, with a focus on community service.

  • American Legion Post 54 Freehold

Focuses on enhancing the well-being of veterans, their families, and the broader community through service and support.

  • Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4374 Freehold

Promotes camaraderie among U.S. veterans of overseas conflicts and advocates for veterans' rights and support.

 Monmouth Conservation Foundation

Works to conserve open space, farmland, and natural habitats in Monmouth County to ensure long-term environmental sustainability.

  • YMCA of Greater Monmouth County

Promotes healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility through programs.
