The Columbia Bank Foundation successfully hosted its Annual Golf Classic on June 1 at Hackensack Golf Club, raising more than $100,000 to support two organizations making a meaningful difference in local communities. Proceeds from the event will benefit New Jersey Citizen Action Education Fund (NJCAEF) and On Your Mark, with each organization receiving more than $50,000 to advance its mission of expanding opportunity, independence, and stability for individuals and families across New Jersey and Staten Island.

“Our Golf Classic brings together clients, community partners, and team members in support of causes that strengthen the communities we serve,” said Thomas J. Kemly, President and CEO of Columbia Bank. “This year marked an important milestone, as the event supported two organizations for the first time, one representing our longstanding commitment to New Jersey and the other reflecting our future expansion into Staten Island through our acquisition of Northfield Bank. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our sponsors and participants, both organizations will be able to advance their important missions. We are proud to support their impact.”

“The Columbia Bank Foundation has been an invaluable partner in advancing our shared vision of stronger, more equitable communities, including increased access to safe, fair and affordable housing and homeownership opportunities,” said Leila Amirhamzeh, J.D., Director of Community Reinvestment of New Jersey Citizen Action Education Fund. “On behalf of the New Jersey Citizen Action Education Fund and the individuals and families across the state who are empowered through our free programs and services, we are honored to receive this grant award and appreciate the Foundation’s continued investment in the people and neighborhoods we serve.”

The New Jersey Citizen Action Education Fund (NJCAEF) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1983 to empower low- and moderate-income people and communities of color through direct counseling and services, research, education, and training on public policy issues important to working families. Each year, NJCAEF serves nearly 18,000 low- and moderate-income New Jerseyans, helping lift families out of poverty and increase economic opportunities for vulnerable households across the state.

“On Your Mark is deeply grateful to the Columbia Bank Foundation for selecting us as a beneficiary of this year’s golf outing,” said Jason Harr, Associate Executive Director of On Your Mark. “Their generosity directly strengthens our mission and expands opportunities for the individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities whom we proudly support. We are especially excited to welcome Columbia Bank to Staten Island and look forward to building a meaningful partnership that benefits our shared community.”

Since 1979, the mission of On Your Mark is to provide innovative and comprehensive community-based services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across their lifespan. Through person-centered programs that promote community and social inclusion, health and fitness, daily activity participation, independence, self-empowerment, and productivity, the organization helps each individual experience the highest quality of life possible.

The Columbia Bank Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to its sponsors, whose generous contributions helped make the Annual Golf Classic possible.

Through the Annual Golf Classic, the Columbia Bank Foundation proudly continues its longstanding tradition of bringing together community partners, sponsors, and supporters to benefit organizations that strengthen communities and expand opportunity for people in need.
